Embedded Software Engineer

• Develop experiments for root cause analysis of complex component and/or firmware problems.
  
• Develop component level diagnostic tools for SEL products.
  
• Participate on new product development teams developing service processes.
  
• Participate in preparation of specifications.
  
• Design and implement firmware/software designs.
  
• Write test plans and conduct design tests.
  
• Prepare and maintain designs and test documentation.
  
• Review data sheets and instruction manuals.
  
• Mentor Associate Engineers and technicians.
  
• Participate in industry technical meetings and conferences as needed to meet operational and strategic plans.
  
• Follow and improve processes.

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent
  
• Experience in analog, digital, and microprocessor subsystem design
  
• Experience in the following areas:
  
  Embedded systems firmware development including:
  

  real-time firmware design
  

  C and Assembly languages
• Strong writing, documentation and speaking skills
  vAbility to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
  
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  
• Background check results satisfactory to SEL
  
• Negative drug test result(s)

• Working knowledge of modern test and measurement equipment.
  
• Familiarity with 3-phase electric power systems
