WGESystems is seeking a self-motivated Project Manager, who shares in our vision, and is experienced in managing multiple on-site, distributed generation or other energy-related construction projects.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years energy related project management experience as well as a thorough understanding of current energy efficiency and clean energy technologies (photovoltaic, fuel cell and/or microturbine distributed generation projects). This person must have onsite energy related construction management experience as well as extensive knowledge of current / local construction codes and standards. In addition, the ideal candidate will have long standing existing relationships with local contractors and customers, superb organizational skills and excellent communication skills, and be proficient in MS Project, Excel and Word, and Outlook.

Duties/Responsibilities:
The Project Manager will lead all phases of multiple clean energy projects by:
  • Providing overall management of subcontracts requirements, including scope, evaluation, negotiation, award, execution, change order management, and project closeout
  • Overseeing subcontractors project schedule and construction activities including engineering design, site mobilization and de-mobilization
  • Developing preliminary designs and scopes of work in order to develop cost estimates for projects
  • Preparing schedules and budget reports
  • Managing the start up, commissioning and testing of a diverse array of mechanical and electrical equipment and systems
  • Coordinating and executing all energy efficiency audits by third parties at customer sites
  • Supporting the business development team with remote and customer site support to determine the best packaged solution for our customers

Required Travel and Office Location:
  • The WGESystems office is located in McLean, Virginia.
  • Local travel to affiliate companies, job site locations in Maryland and the District of Columbia, with the potential for geographic expansion at a later date.

  • Qualifications:
    • BS in engineering or related degree.
    • Minimum 3 years project management experience, preferably in an energy-related market
    • Demonstrated construction industry experience, preferably in an energy-related market
    • Demonstrated ability to successfully master new technologies
    • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
    • Superb organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to be self motivated and work in an entrepreneurial atmosphere as a team member
    • Ability to work independently and exercise discretion when making business decisions regarding daily work
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities and customers simultaneously
    • Demonstrated ability to successfully operate in a construction, factory and/or maintenance environment(s) is preferred
    • Must be proficient in MS Project, Excel and Word, and MS Outlook.
    • This position will spend the majority of time at customer sites in Maryland and the District of Columbia, with the potential for geographic expansion at a later date. Ability to travel to site locations required.
    • Candidate should have a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or the ability to successfully complete training and examinations within six months

    Qualifications Preferred:
    • Experience with distributed generation projects
    • Demonstrated thorough understanding of current energy efficiency and clean energy technologies including experience managing multiple energy efficiency and clean energy projects
    • Demonstrated knowledge of current construction codes and federal standards for mechanical and electrical systems
    • Familiarity with existing local utility codes and energy standards
    • Long standing existing relationships with local contractors and customers
    • Demonstrated experience managing the design of projects to ensure constructability and technical performance
    • Demonstrated experience managing construction projects onsite; extensive field experience
    • Experience in AutoCad, Visio and MS PowerPoint
